Founder & Managing Partner
Joe Scott is the Founder and Managing Partner at Kachina Peaks Capital (“Kachina Peaks”). Prior to founding Kachina Peaks, Joe worked in various roles at Verizon including Corporate Strategy and Development, New Product Development, and Corporate Technology. In his time at Verizon he assisted in numerous acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and venture investments in areas including advertising technology, digital media, broadband, wireless connectivity, UAVs, energy, and healthcare. Joe led the overall internal product investment and development for Verizon’s mobile-first video product from 2013 to 2015. In addition, Joe spearheaded Verizon’s Silicon Valley Open Innovation efforts from 2012 to 2013, founding and opening Verizon Labs in Palo Alto, CA in July of 2013.
Before joining Verizon, Joe spent six months with Kidd & Company; lower middle-market focused fundless private equity firm based in Old Greenwich, CT. In this role, Joe worked as an analyst for the firm, performing strategic, operational, financial, and transactional due diligence for potential deals. During his time, he helped on the acquisition of an Aerospace & Defense components including assisting with the industry and market research, LBO modeling, sourcing of funds. During his time at Kidd & Company, and because Kidd & Company is a generalist firm, Joe was exposed to a number different industries and buyout opportunities in the lower middle-market.
Joe began his professional career working full-time for Corning while simultaneously pursuing his undergraduate studies full-time. During his more than 4 years at Corning, Joe held various roles in Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Capital Planning, and Quality.
Joe received his MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University in 2012 where he was a distinguished straight-through. Joe received his Bachelor degrees in Physics (B.S.), Mathematics (B.A.), and Political Science (B.S) from Arizona State University graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2010. He also holds a Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt from Arizona State University.
